Description
Antique Simpson Hall Miller Cherubs Figural Silver Plate Mechanical Butter Dish. This is highly desirable antique Victorian silver plated mechanical butter dish with two figural cherubs on the base. The dish is marked on the bottom as follows: SIMPSON HALL MILLER & CO. - QUADRUPLE PLATE - 126 (as shown). The lid has a knob that lifts up and the two halves of the dome go down at the same time to reveal the butter dish in the center. The glass dish is removable but I am not sure it is original to the dish. The butter knife is included also but again I am sure it is original to the dish ( it is marked Wm. A. Rogers - Oneida-LTD). The dish is in very NICE condition showing some signs of wear with scratches /scuffs & one very slight indentation on the bottom bowl on top on the knob side when opened (this might have been there when it was made). All pieces need cleaned. The dish / insert / knife weigh close to 4 lbs. - stands approx. 12" tall and measures approx. 7 1/2" across at the widest point on handle. Please look at pictures or ask questions and I will answer to the best of my ability as I am certainly not an expert. The antique butter dish would make a nice addition to a collection. Shipping will be .85. Thanks for looking and good luck.
