    A Wonderful Antique
    Silver Plate Butter Dish

    This beautiful American Silver Plate Butter Dish is in very good antique condition with only minor wear that is consistent with age and use. It has several important features that are somewhat rare for these items. This butter dish is complete with its glass butter plate and the knife holders on one side of the dish. It also has its lid. The only flaw that I see is an apparent cut or scrape on the flat side of the glass plate. It does not go through to the other side of the plate and I think it possibly occurred during the glass making process. It stands about 9 1/4" high to the top of the handle and it is signed on the bottom: SIMPSON, HALL & MILLER CO. Quadruple Plate, 52.
    It dates from the mid to the late 1800's.
