    Description

    Antique Victorian quadruple silver plate mechanical butter dish by the Rockford Silver Company features an ornate reticulated tall frame with handle lever at the top that pulls the chain over a small pulley which is attached to the lid to raise and lower as needed to access the butter in the bottom bowl. The bowl featurs an ice divider plate. The lid features a ribbed swirl form with engraved floral design, embossed repeating fan shape at rim and flared base edge. All parts are present including the butter knife and ice dividing plate. Marked on reverse, Rockford Silver Co. 1659. Measures: 12” Height x 8” Width x 5.25” Depth, Butter Dish Height: 6” x 5.25” Depth. There are no dings nor dents. It has not been polished and therefore appears tarnished. It has two items that need to be spot welded: the top handle, and the right hand upper joint. These are highlighted in the photos. It measures approximately 8" wide x 12" high.
